Software Engineering Intern (ML/AI)

This is a full-time hybrid internship where you work from the San Jose, CA office.

There are no travel requirements for this position. The role is primarily focused on internal projects and collaboration within the team, making it essential to engage fully within the office and remote workspaces.

Your Role

• Build data/ETL pipelines for training and fine tuning LLMs

• Perform supervised fine tuning and instruction-tuning of open-source Generative AI models such as LLaMA-2 for a variety of downstream tasks such as Question Answering

• Setup inference endpoints and MLOPs workflow for iterative model performance tuning

• Set up LangChain pipeline including prompt engineering and parsing

• Collaborate with internal teams for data engineering and building custom models and optimizations.

What You Will Bring

• You are pursuing a Masters in Computer Science or a related field

• You have taken one or more courses in the areas of Operating/Distributed/Database Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, NLP, Deep Learning, LLM

• You are fluent in one or more of the following languages: C, C++, Python, Java, Golang

Work Arrangement

Hybrid: This role operates in a hybrid capacity, blending the benefits of remote work with the advantages of in-person collaboration. For most roles, that will mean coming into an office a minimum of 2 - 3 days per week, however certain roles and/or teams may require more frequent in-office presence. Additional team-specific guidance and norms will be provided by your manager.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 58 and USD $ 65 per hour.

However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
