Summer Intern, Design Operations

We are pleased to offer a summer internship opportunity on our Design Systems team. As a Design Systems Intern, you will have the chance to develop your skills in design systems and contribute to the maintenance and evolution of our design systems across multiple products. You will work in close collaboration with our design system leads, designers and engineering teams. Your work will help to ensure quality, consistency, and usability across our products and experiences.

What you’ll do: 

• Collaborate with the Design Operations team to enhance design workflows, tools, and processes, ensuring a smooth and efficient design delivery.

• Assist in tracking and managing design projects, gathering data, and providing insights to improve design operations.

• Support the documentation of design processes, best practices, and workflows, creating resources that improve design team efficiency.

• Participate in meetings, design reviews, and retrospectives, taking notes, providing insights, and supporting follow-up actions.

• Work with cross-functional teams to identify bottlenecks, propose solutions, and streamline design handoffs between teams.

• Help maintain project management tools, templates, and documentation that keep the design team aligned and organized.

This internship will provide you with valuable hands-on experience in design systems and the opportunity to contribute to the development of a robust and cohesive design system for a music product that reaches millions of users. You will work closely with experienced professionals who will guide and mentor you throughout the internship, helping you build a strong foundation in design systems, preparing you for a successful career in the design field.

What you’ll need:

• Internships are open to current students enrolled at a university (those graduating by May 2027 are preferred) and recent graduates who graduated within the 12-month period prior to the start of the internship

• Enrolled or graduated in fields such as Design, Project Management, Business, or related disciplines.

• Knowledge of design processes and workflows: Familiarity with basic design processes, as well as an understanding of how design teams function and deliver work.

• Proficiency in project management tools: Experience with tools like Asana, Trello, Jira, or similar tools is beneficial. Ability to manage tasks, timelines, and documentation is important.

• Strong organizational skills: Attention to detail, time management, and the ability to maintain organized documentation and processes are essential.

• Collaboration and communication: Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers, developers, and product managers. The ability to provide clear updates, share ideas, and engage actively in team discussions is key.

• Problem-solving skills: Analytical and problem-solving skills to help identify workflow issues and propose effective solutions. Critical and creative thinking is necessary to optimize design processes.

• Adaptability and eagerness to learn: Willingness to learn about new tools, methodologies, and design operations strategies. Openness to feedback and a proactive approach to growing in the field of design operations.

• Portfolio: A portfolio showcasing relevant projects, process documentation, or case studies that demonstrate organizational skills and an understanding of design workflows is highly desirable

• Must have legal right to work in the U.S. 

At SiriusXM, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your background and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We expect the base salary for this position to be $37-40/hr and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives. We encourage all interested candidates to apply.
