Contributing to Open Source under the MLH Fellowship

Building a Web Assembly Based Video Toolkit on the Browser, starting with an FFmpeg based Video Transcoder.

Programmed a source-verification bot on Twitter that verifies the accuracy of a tweet's content by retweeting a credible news article about said content. The tweets were handled through a connection with the Twitter API and processed in Node.js, while TextRank was employed to perform keyword extraction. 

Was Responsible for the full server side infrastructure.

As Lead Backend Engineer, I am building and maintaining all of The Varsity's Backend infrastructure

The aim of this project was to study the Ozone concentration in my city, as this data was not studied in recent times in our city. We wanted to see the effects climate change had on the Ozone concentration and the possible effects ozone was having on the city. To achieve this, we build a payload to be launched into the lower atmosphere(~36kms) to collect the ozone data.

I was one of the Authors of this paper, my primary contributions were towards creating the payload and the embedded circuit on it. As there would be no radio contact during flight, it was critical that the system did not fail and had to be extensively tested, especially for the extreme temperatures of upto -80 ° C it would face. This created a change of creating a real-time embedded circuit, which was critical to the entire project. This system was built around the Arduino framework, with specialized sensors, and was programmed in C.

Apart, from building the embedded circuit, I also contributed in the analyses of the 

For this internship, Cisco had us build products for our high schools in teams, which were under supervision of Cisco. I was the leader of my team, which consisted of six members. Our team was working on a peer-peer book sharing platform, for students in our schools to easily share books with each other.

Personally, I managed the team and oversaw that everyone completed their specific tasks, and that the modules integrated properly. I was also the primarily backend developer for the project, where we used Node.js, Express.js and MySQL. I also contributed and assisted in frontend whenever needed which was built on Angular.js. Finally, I was responsible for deployment and liaising with Cisco team about the status of the project on a week to week basis.

This internship was a huge learning opportunity for me, as my first real corporate experience, where I had to report to others and had to write production level code. This project taught me a lot about long-term application development, 

Spark A Change is a non profit,that a group of friends and I started back in 2014 to try to give back to the under privileged communities around us. We wanted to raise awareness and raise funds for causes we believed in.

 In my time at Spark A Change, I have helped build the organization up from scratch and effectively run it for the better part of four years, in this time we have made great strides towards helping our community. We have raised over $10,000 dollars for various causes from Orphanages, Blind Trusts,Flood relief, and many more. We have been able to collect and donate a lot of material goods, in terms of Books, Clothes, Toys, etc to various Orphanages across our city.

Spark A Change, has been a great learning experience for me in terms of gaining hands on experience in time management, leadership and collaboration, which have all been valuable skills in my Software development career.
