Designing and implementing an enterprise-class, multi-tenant SaaS architecture built specifically for small and midsize businesses (SMBs) that want to own their data and avoid the high recurring costs of commercial platforms. The solution features strict tenant isolation, Vault-secured secrets that allow for unique db connections, full secret management through HashiCorp Vault, and a modern identity layer built on ASP.NET Core and OpenIddict using OAuth/OIDC standards. The platform stack includes PostgreSQL on Debian, ASP.NET Core/.NET 8 for backend services, Finbuckle MultiTenant for tenant resolution, and a React/Next.js front end. Analytics built-in D3.js, providing a path for real-time monitoring and tenant-specific reporting and analytics. Introducing MinIO as a cost-effective storage layer to support a modern data-lakehouse architecture, giving SMBs scalable analytics capabilities without proprietary cloud dependencies. The project also incorporates Markdown, Liquid templates, and SCSS for documentation, static-site components, and UI styling across the ecosystem. Emphasizes an MIT-friendly, vendor-neutral design to keep the system simple, affordable, and fully self-hostable. Supports per-tenant databases, centralized identity, automated provisioning, and future expansion for object storage, analytics, and payments—giving SMBs the architectural advantages typically reserved for large SaaS providers, without Azure/AWS lock-in or expensive licensing.
