Unfocus: A Break Reminder for Mindful Productivity

Unfocus is a local-first desktop application designed to help you take meaningful breaks from your screen. Unlike typical productivity tools, Unfocus prioritizes a calm and distraction-free experience. It reminds you to look away from your monitor and offers a serene, observe-only view of your day's activity, encouraging genuine rest without the pressure of streaks, scores, or gamification.

• Synchronized Breaks: Unfocus covers all your monitors with a consistent, full-screen break scene, ensuring a complete visual reset.

• Gentle Reminders: Optional pre-break cues, such as a compact pill on Linux or notch-inspired wings on macOS, provide subtle notifications before the break begins, followed by a countdown.

• Calm Visuals: The application features a bundled, static landscape that remains constant during breaks, promoting a sense of tranquility. A warm amber light signals the end of the break.

• Configurable Intervals: Customize your work and break durations, with defaults set to 20 minutes for work and 20 seconds for breaks, adjustable from 1 to 120 minutes and 3 to 30 seconds respectively.

• Flexible Control: Supports immediate breaks, break previews, fixed 30-minute pauses, and early exit options.

• Intelligent Interruption Avoidance: Utilizes idle and fullscreen signals to avoid interrupting you when you're already away from your device or presenting.

• Local-First Design: All data, including settings, activity history, and break outcomes, is stored locally on your device. There are no accounts, telemetry, or cloud dependencies.

• Observe-Only Reflection: The dashboard provides a rolling 24-hour view of your active and away time, along with a 90-day history. It reflects your day's rhythm without judgment, gamification, or performance grading.

• Developer Mode: Offers insights into platform signals, connected displays, and probe errors for troubleshooting.

Installation and Support:

Unfocus is available for Linux (X11), macOS, and Windows. Installation is supported via APT repositories for Debian/Ubuntu, Homebrew for macOS, and various package formats from GitHub Releases. The application is built using Tauri, Rust, SvelteKit, and Svelte, ensuring a robust and efficient desktop experience.
