Why I Stopped Answering Questions and Built an AI to Do It For Me

The story behind building One Question.

Why I Stopped Answering Questions and Built an AI to Do It For Me

It was a Tuesday afternoon. I had just finished a build session on One of the projects I am working when three DMs came in at the same time.

"What tools do you use to build on your phone?"

"How do you manage your time between school and building?"

"What is One Question and how does it work?"

Three different people. Three different platforms. Three identical questions I had already answered fourteen times that week.

I did not ignore them. I answered all three. Manually. Again.

That is when I realized I had become a human FAQ page.

The problem nobody talks about

Every founder, creator, coach and consultant I know has the same problem.

You build something. You share your journey. People find you. They ask questions.

At first it feels good. Engagement. Interest. Proof that what you are building matters.

Then it compounds.

The same ten questions. Over and over. On X. In DMs. In comments. In emails. From people who genuinely want to know but have no way of knowing you answered this exact question yesterday.

You cannot be angry at them. They are not being lazy. They just found you and they want to connect.

But you are one person. And your time is the most finite resource you have.

Every minute spent answering a repeat question is a minute not spent building, writing, shipping or thinking.

The math does not work.

The existing solutions do not solve the problem

I looked at every tool available.

FAQs on websites — static, no one reads them, impossible to keep updated.

Linktree and similar tools — just links, no answers.

Chatbots — complex to set up, require engineering, still feel robotic.

Notion docs — great for you, invisible to everyone else.

None of them answered the actual question a visitor has in the moment they have it.

None of them felt personal.

None of them scaled with you as your knowledge grew.

What I actually wanted

I wanted something simple.

Someone visits my page. They have a question. They type it. They get an answer that sounds like me, knows what I know, and actually helps them.

No friction. No delay. No me having to be online.

That is it. That is the whole thing.

One question. One answer. Every time. Automatically.

So I built it

I am a 19 year old CS student in Kaduna, Nigeria. I build from my Android phone using Termux. No laptop. Limited internet through Starlink data bundles. Full time student.

I built One Question in the constraints that most people would use as an excuse not to build.

Here is how it works:

You claim your username at onequestion.space/yourname. You upload your knowledge — your bio, your FAQs, your expertise, your story. Your AI learns from everything you upload.

Anyone who visits your space asks one question. The AI searches your knowledge base using semantic embeddings, finds the most relevant context, and generates an answer in your voice using Gemini 2.5 Flash.

The answer is instant. The AI is always online. You never have to repeat yourself again.

What this changes

The first time I tested it on my own space I asked "Who is Asym?" and it answered:

"Asym Alwali is a 19-year-old CS student and founder based in Yobe, Nigeria. He is building One Question from his Android phone using Termux with no laptop..."

It knew. Because I taught it. Once.

That is the shift.

You stop being a human FAQ page. You become someone whose knowledge works for them even when they are sleeping, in class, or deep in a build session.

Your audience gets answers. You get your time back.

Who this is for

Founders tired of explaining what they are building in every DM.

Creators who answer the same questions in every comment section.

Coaches whose intake process is drowning them in repetitive emails.

Consultants who spend the first thirty minutes of every call explaining who they are.

Anyone who has ever copied and pasted the same answer twice.

Where we are now

One Question is in early access. The core product works end to end.

AI answering questions using real knowledge. Semantic search. Real time analytics. Username claiming. Custom welcome messages.

Built entirely from a phone. Shipped in public. Documented every step.

If you want to stop answering the same question twice — go claim your space.
