A Different Way to Monetize Education Websites (Without Banner Ads)

Many education websites — especially teacher blogs and resource pages — receive steady traffic but earn very little from it.

Banner ads often perform poorly on these sites. They slow down pages, disrupt the layout, and rarely generate meaningful revenue unless traffic is very high.

At the same time, many education sites send visitors to external destinations:

  • Teachers Pay Teachers resources

  • downloadable freebies

  • recommended tools

  • curriculum materials

  • learning platforms

These links often generate a large portion of the site’s traffic — but they are rarely monetized.

This observation led to the creation of Promoverto (https://promoverto.com).

The idea

Promoverto is a small ad network designed specifically for education websites.

Instead of banners, it works by showing a short 8-second education-related video before selected links.

When a visitor clicks a link (for example a resource link), they briefly see a short video from an education brand. After the video finishes, they are automatically redirected to the original destination.

From the visitor’s perspective, the process looks like this:

  1. Click a resource link

  2. A short 8-second education video plays

  3. The visitor continues to the intended page

The video appears only once every five minutes per visitor to avoid overuse.

Why this approach

Education sites often want to avoid traditional ads for several reasons:

  • banner ads clutter the layout

  • ad networks can slow page speed

  • unrelated ads look unprofessional

  • teacher audiences respond poorly to aggressive advertising

The goal with Promoverto is to provide a simpler and cleaner alternative.

  • No banners

  • No layout changes

  • Only education-related advertisers

  • Site owners choose which links to enable

How publishers earn

Advertisers pay for completed video views.

Publishers currently earn approximately:

$10 per 1,000 completed views

Because the system works on link clicks rather than page impressions, it can be especially useful on pages where visitors frequently click resources or downloads.

Where it works well

Some common use cases include:

  • resource recommendation pages

  • free download pages

  • tool lists for teachers

  • blog posts linking to TPT resources

  • curriculum recommendation pages

Publishers can enable it only where it makes sense for their audience.

A simple example

You can see a live example here:

https://free-math.com/index.php?id=18&title=Multiplication-Color-By-Number-Mystery-Picture

Clicking the “Get this Freebie” link will trigger the short video before redirecting to the resource.

A network built for education

Promoverto focuses only on education publishers and education advertisers.

The goal is to create a small, focused ecosystem where:

  • education brands reach relevant audiences

  • teacher websites earn additional revenue

  • user experience remains clean and simple
