About this Opportunity

Tock is looking for a Software Engineer to help us continue to build the next generation restaurant ticketing system, based on the tried and true system deployed at world-class restaurants such as Alinea, Next, The French Laundry, and more. We're looking for engineers who are generalists—you'll work with a mix of front and back-end web development tools but focusing on APIs, backend integrations, and enterprise customers. We are a small team so there's a great opportunity for you to make a difference.

You will report directly to the Engineering Manager. Tock's offices are located in Chicago, but you may work remotely.

You'll Get To...

  • Build BE integrations, customer-facing APIs, and features for enterprise customers

  • Build features in next-generation web applications that are fast and responsive

  • Be able to build a feature or enhancement, starting with engineering design taking it all the way to production

  • Contribute to team culture and contribute code to efforts across the company

  • Maintain and upgrade code and participate in necessary design and implementation of a complex system

Who We're Looking For

  • At least 3 years of experience building software

  • Understand all parts of a modern web-based application stack from Frontend, Backend to Production

  • A specialist in at least one part of the stack—backend or production infrastructure

  • You work well as part of a team and independently

  • Enjoys being part of a team that works and learns together

  • Experience communicating written and verbal updates and resolutions to internal and external stakeholders

  • You prefer to experiment and use data to guide decision-making

Cash Compensation Range: $118,000 - $190,325 USD

The base salary for this position will vary based on job-related criteria including relevant skills, experience, and location, among other factors.

In addition to the cash compensation above (which includes base salary and, where applicable for eligible roles, may include on-target commissions or overtime pay), all Tock employees are eligible to receive equity in the company as part of their total compensation.
