Team mission

The Marketplace Group owns the mobile and web platforms of GetYourGuide. We aim to deliver an amazing customer journey through great user interfaces and rigorous A/B testing. Our goal is to build an unbeatable e-commerce site and a seamless booking experience for our users. 

We’re organized in a cross-functional mission team composed of software engineers, and native apps engineers, along with a product manager, data analyst, and a designer.

What you'll do:

• Champion for the continuous improvement of our customers’ experience

• Directly impact the experience of our travelers who are users of the native Android GetYourGuide application

• Maintain a high standard of quality for our code, features, and products

• Translate high-level ideas and requirements into practical solutions

• Contribute to learning and advancement of our engineering practice

• Help build and grow our Team

What you should bring:

• 4+ years of experience in app development

• Experienced with Java, Kotlin, Git, and using the Android Framework

• Knowledge of writing automated tests (Unit/UI/Integration tests/screenshot tests)

• Customer-centric prioritization and data-driven decision-making

• Ability to turn ideas into solid, maintainable code

• Open to learning node.js, we well as other tools and methodologies

• Positive, proactive team player who is passionate about their craft and cares about helping the team deliver

• Capable of working in a diverse team alongside designers, product managers, and  software engineers

• Written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts to others in English

Nice to have:

• Experience with backend development in Java or Node.js

• Have one or more successful Android apps published in the Google Play store

• Prior experience working in the e-commerce space

• Prior experience in start-up environments
