Product Engineer (Python) - AI First

About the Role:
We’re looking for an AI-First Product Engineer (Python) to join the Health Compiler engineering team.

This is not a traditional backend role.

You will be responsible for building AI-powered product experiences, backend systems, and data integrations that power our healthcare analytics platform used by leading healthcare organizations across the U.S.

You’ll work closely with product, data, and integrations teams to ship features end-to-end, leveraging AI wherever possible to move faster, smarter, and with higher impact.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build and own end-to-end product features using Python (backend + AI workflows)

• Design and develop APIs and services that power AI-driven healthcare applications

• Integrate LLMs, AI agents, and automation workflows into real product use cases

• Develop and manage data pipelines and backend systems that support analytics and AI models

• Work with large healthcare datasets (claims, clinical, pharmacy, etc.)

• Build integrations with external systems (EHRs, APIs, third-party platforms)

• Improve performance, scalability, and reliability of backend services

• Collaborate deeply with product to iterate fast and ship continuously

• Use AI tools (Copilot, Claude, etc.) to accelerate development and reduce manual work

Required Skills:

• 5–10 years of experience in Python-based product or backend engineering

• Strong experience with frameworks like FastAPI, Flask, or Django

• Solid understanding of API design and distributed systems

• Experience working with databases (PostgreSQL, BigQuery, or similar)

• Ability to build production-grade systems end-to-end

• Comfortable in a fast-paced, startup environment

Good to Have:

• Experience or strong interest in working with:

  • LLMs (OpenAI, Claude, etc.)

  • AI agents / automation workflows

  • Prompt engineering and AI-assisted development

• Ability to think in terms of:

  • “How can AI solve this?” instead of “how do I code this?”

• Actively uses AI tools to 10x productivity

Nice to Have

• Experience with GCP or AWS

• Familiarity with Docker / containerized deployments

• Experience with data engineering or analytics pipelines

• Exposure to healthcare data (claims, EHR, FHIR, etc.)
