By Dr. Gloria Wright, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC | Founder of Insight Mental Wellness, San Antonio, TX
Balancing empathy, expertise, and leadership has always been the heartbeat of my work. When I founded Insight Mental Wellness, my goal wasn’t just to create another psychiatric clinic, it was to build a safe, judgment-free space where individuals could feel truly seen and supported on their journey toward healing.
As a woman clinician and entrepreneur, my path in mental health care has been deeply personal. I’ve witnessed how stigma, burnout, and limited access to quality care can leave patients feeling lost. Those moments shaped my calling: to lead with compassion, elevate standards of care, and empower others, especially women, to take charge of their mental well-being.
Insight Mental Wellness began as a vision to make mental health care more approachable and accessible. Our clinic offers telepsychiatry, psychiatric diagnostic evaluations, medication management, and second opinions for adults 18 and older. But beyond services, it’s a community built on trust and understanding.
Every patient who walks through our doors or connects with us online is met with empathy, not judgment. We take the time to listen, understand their story, and create treatment plans tailored to their unique needs. Because mental health isn’t one-size-fits-all, it’s personal, evolving, and deserves individualized attention.
Leadership, to me, isn’t about titles, it’s about impact. As a woman in a field that’s historically underrepresented in leadership, I’ve learned that change begins with visibility and courage. Women bring emotional intelligence, resilience, and a collaborative spirit to leadership, qualities that are essential in mental health care.
I’ve faced challenges that tested both my professional and personal strength. But those challenges also deepened my resolve to lead authentically, prioritize self-care, and advocate for others to do the same. True leadership means creating opportunities for others to rise with you, whether that’s mentoring young clinicians, supporting colleagues, or advocating for mental health awareness in the community.
The rise of telepsychiatry has transformed how we deliver care. At Insight Mental Wellness, technology allows us to reach patients who might otherwise go untreated due to distance, mobility, or scheduling barriers. This shift has been one of the most rewarding parts of my journey, proving that compassionate care can transcend walls and screens.
Each session is a reminder that healing begins with a single act of courage: asking for help. And as providers, our role is to honor that courage with clinical expertise and human kindness.
Mental health care is evolving, and women leaders are at the forefront of this transformation. Our voices, empathy, and innovative approaches are redefining how society views mental health. As the Founder of Insight Mental Wellness, I remain committed to leading this change, with integrity, compassion, and an unwavering belief that healing is possible for everyone.
Leadership isn’t just about guiding others; it’s about growing alongside them. My journey has been one of constant learning, humility, and hope. And as I look toward the future, I see not just patients, but people, reclaiming their stories, resilience, and strength.
