Another week, another new GEO/AI SEO thing

Just when you thought you had it all figured out.

You've just gotten your head around the latest algorithm update. You've finally convinced your boss to invest in that new tool. You're feeling pretty good, like you've finally got this SEO thing figured out.

HAHA.

A new term starts buzzing on LinkedIn. Everyone's talking about "LLM Seeding," and you're left thinking, "Great. Another thing to learn, another thing to test, another thing to add to the never-ending to-do list."

I get it. The life of an SEO is a constant whirlwind of chasing new trends, experimenting with new tactics, and trying to stay one step ahead of the game. It's exhausting, but let's be honest, it's also what makes this job so....interesting. There's never a dull moment.

I believe everyone knows what LLM stands for by now. But for the ones who've been living under a rock - LLM stands for "Large Language Model" – ChatGPT, Gemini, and all their AI cousins. LLM Seeding, however, is basically about getting your content in front of these AIs so they use it, and more importantly, cite it in their answers.

We're not just trying to get clicks from a search results page anymore. We're now in the business of influencing the AI that's giving people direct answers. It's a whole new ball game.

More and more people are turning to AI for quick, summarized answers. They're not always scrolling through pages of search results. And if your brand isn't showing up in those AI-generated answers, you're becoming invisible.

Ah, and LLMs don't care much about your DR too :)

That's right. One study found that nearly 90% of ChatGPT's citations came from sources that were ranking below the 20th position in Google. This is a huge opportunity for those of us who have been fighting to get on the first page.

The good news is, you don't need a whole new suite of expensive tools for this. It's about being smart and strategic.

  • Become a Knowledge Hero: You know all those insights you've gathered? It's time to share them where it counts. Go answer questions in relevant Reddit subthreads, join discussions on Quora, or even create a helpful guide for your community on a platform like Whop. Be the most helpful person in the room. AIs are learning from these conversations.

  • Your Social Media is Now AI Bait: Your social media posts aren't just for your followers anymore. AIs are scanning X, YouTube, Pinterest, and even Instagram for information. Use clear, searchable language. Think of every post as a potential source for an AI-generated answer.

  • Make Your Content "AI-Friendly": You know that FAQ page you've been meaning to update? Now's the time. Structure your content in a simple question-and-answer format. It's like serving up a delicious, easy-to-digest meal for the AI.

How to track? There are fancy tools, or just go to your favorite AI chatbot and start asking questions. Imagine you're your potential customer and ask for specific tool/service recommendations, ask about your competitors, make it rate your own brand. If your name and your content start popping up in the answers, you'll know you're on the right track.

Now, go on. Go plant some seeds. Let's see what grows.
