Why Charlie Exists? We don't think job searching is broken because it's hard.
It's broken because we've accepted the wrong first conversation.
Somewhere along the way, applying for a job stopped being about helping another human understand what you're capable of.
Instead, it became an exercise in convincing software.
We rewrite our résumé for every application. We sprinkle in keywords we wouldn't normally use. We remove experiences because an ATS might not understand them. We stop writing like ourselves and start writing for a parser.
Then we wonder why the process feels so impersonal.
We've spent years making machines better at reading résumés.
Maybe it was time to make them better at understanding people.
That's why I built Charlie. Not to automate hundreds of applications. Not to fire résumés into the internet faster. Not to "beat the ATS."Charlie starts somewhere much simpler.
With a conversation.
Tell Charlie about the work you're proud of. The problems you've solved. The kind of work you're looking for. The career you're trying to build.
Only then does Charlie think about positioning your experience for a role.
Because your story should shape your application.
Not the other way around.
We don't believe the future of hiring is more automation for the sake of automation.
We believe it's reducing the busywork so people can spend more time understanding each other.
Maybe that's an unpopular belief.
Maybe the world just wants another one-click apply button.
But if you've ever looked at a rejection and thought, "They never really understood what I could do," then we're probably building Charlie for the same reason.
We're launching Charlie to a small group first.
Not because we want exclusivity.
Because we want to build it with people who believe the first person to understand your career shouldn't be an algorithm.
If that's you, send an email to [email protected].
Tell us about the work you're chasing.
We'll take it from there.
