NoRing

A quieter phone. More of your life.

I built NoRing because my phone kept asking for attention it had not earned.

A loan offer. A credit card promotion. Another repeat sales call. One more suspicious message.

Each interruption is small, but together they make the phone feel noisy and repeatedly pull you away from whatever you were doing.

NoRing is my attempt to make that relationship calmer.

It is a free, private Android app that protects against repeat unwanted calls and distracting SMS/MMS, without uploading your communication to a shared spam database.

How it works

Call Protection

NoRing uses Android’s official Call Screening system.

It learns locally from unknown calls that you reject or answer only very briefly. When the same number, or a tightly similar local pattern, keeps behaving like something you do not want, NoRing can keep it quiet before it rings.

You can also manually mark numbers as unwanted or allow them in the future.

It does not silence every unfamiliar caller by default. The goal is to reduce repeat interruptions without making your phone unreachable.

SMS Protection

SMS Protection gives you two simple sections:

- Inbox for useful alerts, personal conversations, transactions, OTPs, deliveries, and messages NoRing is uncertain about.

- Quieted for confidently identified promotions, loan and credit card offers, suspicious messages, blocked senders, and anything you choose to keep quiet.

Quieted messages are not deleted. You can review them, change sender rules, and correct decisions whenever needed.

Call Protection and SMS Protection work independently, so you can use either one or both.

Private by design

NoRing does not require an account.

Your contacts, call logs, phone numbers, SMS/MMS content, sender IDs, rules, classifications, protected history, and learning profiles stay on your phone.

There is:

- No shared spam database

- No cloud or cross-user communication scoring

- No anonymized or federated learning signal sent back from your phone

- No communication data supplied to advertisers

Each phone’s learning is isolated to that device. NoRing itself improves through regular app updates, not by pooling users’ calls or messages.

Free and accessible

Core Call Protection and SMS Protection are free to use.

NoRing is currently available in 30 languages, including English, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Arabic, Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Swahili, and more.

- No app can perfectly identify every unwanted call or message, so NoRing keeps uncertain communication visible and gives you control over corrections.
