Launching Venturo on Peerlist

I'm beyond excited to announce the launch of Venturo on Peerlist! For the past three months, I've poured my heart into this side project to address a problem I know all too well: the daunting complexity of managing employee stock options. As a tech employee who spent 8 years at Addepar, I saw firsthand how my colleagues and I grappled with the intricacies of exercising and selling equity, often shelling out thousands for advisors due to a lack of accessible tools. That frustration inspired me to build Venturo—a simple yet powerful platform designed to empower tech employees to take control of their stock options and optimize their tax outcomes.
During my time in Tech, I noticed a recurring challenge among my coworkers: navigating the tax implications of Incentive Stock Options (ISOs) and Non-Qualified Stock Options (NSOs) was a nightmare. From understanding vesting schedules to calculating Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) impacts and planning equity sales, the process was overwhelming. We often turned to expensive accountants or financial advisors, not because we wanted to, but because there were no user-friendly tools to help us analyze and manage our equity ourselves. After years of experiencing this pain point, I decided to take matters into my own hands and build Venturo—a tool tailored for tech employees who receive stock options as part of their compensation at private companies.
Venturo's mission is clear: simplify the complexities of stock option management and tax optimization, enabling users to save thousands in advisor fees while making informed financial decisions with confidence.
Venturo is designed to be the go-to tool for tech employees who want to manage their stock options without needing a finance degree or an expensive advisor. Here’s how it helps:
Effortless Vesting Tracking: Whether you have a straightforward four-year vesting schedule or a more complex grant with cliffs and accelerations, Venturo makes it easy to track your equity vesting in real time. Input your grant details, and the platform visualizes your vesting progress, so you always know where you stand.
AMT Tax Optimization: Exercising ISOs can trigger the Alternative Minimum Tax, which catches many tech employees off guard. Venturo’s premium feature calculates your AMT liability and provides optimization strategies to minimize your tax burden, helping you decide when and how much to exercise.
Sale Impact Calculator: Selling your equity—whether it’s exercised options or converted common stock—comes with its own tax complexities. Venturo’s sale calculator analyzes capital gains, holding periods, and tax rates to help you plan sales strategically, maximizing your after-tax proceeds.
Self-Service Simplicity: No more relying on advisors or spending hours deciphering tax codes. Venturo provides a user-friendly interface that breaks down complex financial and tax scenarios into actionable insights, empowering you to make decisions without external help.
By offering these features, Venturo saves users the thousands of dollars they’d otherwise spend on accountants or advisors, putting control back in their hands.
Building Venturo was a labor of love, and I chose a tech stack that ensures a seamless, secure, and scalable experience for users. I started my vibe coding journey through trial and error, with a robust stack. Here’s a peek under the hood:
Cursor & Vercel: The front-end is built with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, powered by Cursor for rapid development and Vercel for lightning-fast deployment and hosting. This combo delivers a smooth, responsive user interface that makes navigating Venturo a breeze.
Supabase: For robust backend data management, I chose Supabase, an open-source Firebase alternative. It handles user data, grant details, and vesting schedules securely and efficiently, ensuring your information is always safe and accessible.
Stripe: Its secure payment processing ensures a seamless experience for users upgrading to premium.
Python: The heavy lifting for tax calculations and optimization algorithms is done in Python. Its robust libraries and computational power enable Venturo to handle complex AMT and capital gains calculations with precision.
This stack allows Venturo to deliver a polished, reliable, and user-focused experience, whether you’re tracking a single grant or managing multiple option pools.
If you’re a tech employee at a private company, your stock options are likely a significant part of your compensation—but they’re also one of the most complex. Missteps in exercising or selling can lead to unexpected tax bills or missed financial opportunities. Venturo bridges this gap by providing a self-service platform that demystifies the process, saves you money, and gives you confidence in your financial decisions.
I’m thrilled to share Venturo with the Peerlist community and beyond. Whether you’re a new grad with your first option grant or a seasoned tech employee juggling multiple vesting schedules, Venturo is here to help you take control of your equity.
