As the team leader for the development of a contactless attendance management system using face recognition, I led a team of three in the successful completion of this project for my final year at Aditya Silver Oak Institute of Technology. Our project aimed to provide an automated solution for attendance management that eliminated the need for manual attendance registers, which is especially relevant during the pandemic. Using OpenCV and machine learning algorithms, we developed a face detection and recognition system that would make attendance tracking both contactless and accurate. Throughout the development process, I honed my skills in computer vision and machine learning, as well as in leadership and communication. As the team leader, I presented the project to our project review teacher, improving my communication and presentation skills, which are crucial for any technical professional. Our project's Proof of Concept (POC) version utilized a group of student images or laptop camera input to showcase the system's capabilities. We successfully developed a face detection and recognition system that matched the detected faces with images stored in the database to mark attendance.
