We keep meaning to ask our parents about their lives, and never do. Sitting them down for an interview feels formal, and question books /emails / calls turn into homework. Heldearly runs the whole thing inside iMessage, so they can respond however they like, whenever they like.
- The storyteller taps an invite link, Messages opens, and they send the first hello. No app, account or password.
- Heldearly asks one question at a time and generates follow-ups from what they actually said, so a small detail turns into a story.
- Answers can be text, photos, voice notes or video. Voice notes and videos stay playable.
- Everything becomes a private, living timeline organized by years and places.
How it's built: messages go out through Linq for iMessage delivery. Follow-ups and stories are generated with Anthropic's Claude via the Vercel AI Gateway, themes are summarized with Google models, and voice memos are transcribed with Groq. Data sits in Supabase, the app runs on Vercel, images on Cloudflare, payments on Stripe. The AI shapes the stories, but the storyteller's original words and voice notes are always kept.
We'd love your feedback.
The storyteller needs iMessage for now; Android is planned.
