Most EPF claims fail for reasons that were knowable before filing. An Aadhaar name that doesn't match. A PAN that was never seeded. An exit date nobody marked. The information is sitting there the whole time. The portal just doesn't look until you've already committed and started waiting.
The worst version of this is EPS. If you joined EPF on or after 1 Sept 2014 with basic pay above ₹15,000, you may never have become an EPS member. Pension contributions can still get routed to your account anyway, and you might only find out when you finally apply for your pension.
PF Mitra flips that around. It checks first and files second.
→ No form numbers. You say "I've left my job and want my full PF" and it works out the rest. Covers Forms 19, 10C, 31, 10D and 13.
→ Eligibility is computed, not guessed. Service years, balances and the purpose rule decide what you can claim and how much.
→ A 10 point pre-flight check before anything is submitted: amount limit, Aadhaar name match, DOB, bank verification, IFSC, PAN seeding, exit date, previous employer record, EPS membership, purpose eligibility. Each one explains itself in plain words instead of a status code.
→ A rejection decoder. EPFO often lists several reasons at once and only the first one actually stopped the claim, so it explains that one and tells you what to fix first.
→ Guided correction and resubmission, including the employer countersignature step.
→ SLA tracking against the real 7 day and 7+7 day service tiers, with an alert when a stage runs late.
→ The full EPFiGMS to RPFC to CPGRAMS escalation ladder when a claim stalls.
→ A bilingual assistant in English and Hindi, typed or spoken. It answers only from the member's own record and never invents a number.
→ Read aloud on every screen, because the person who needs this most often isn't the person comfortable reading a form.
→ A toggle that shows what the current portal displays, side by side with ours.
The pre-flight check ended up being the core of the whole thing. Every new failure mode I found turned out to fit the same shape, so it kept absorbing them without needing new architecture.
Real EPFO rules. Entirely fictional data. Not connected to EPFO, UMANG, Aadhaar or any payment system.
