Electron AppStack is a free, production-ready fullstack Electron boilerplate. It gives you everything a real desktop app needs, already wired together and documented, so you can spend your time on your app instead of on infrastructure.
Most Electron templates give you a window and a build. Electron AppStack starts where they stop:
Modern React stack: React 19, TypeScript, TanStack Router and TanStack Query, shadcn/ui and Tailwind CSS v4, with system, light and dark themes.
Typed backend: tRPC and zod over IPC for fully typed, validated calls to the main process, SQLite with Drizzle ORM and migrations applied on startup, and a typed app config.
Ready to sell: license keys with LicenseManager and payments with Stripe. Activation window, offline use, a maximum number of devices and updates gated by license, all configured from your policy without touching the code.
Secure: the main process ships as V8 bytecode so your code is not readable in the packaged app, plus Electron fuses, ASAR integrity, a sandboxed renderer and a strict Content Security Policy.
Ships everywhere: Changesets and GitHub Actions build, sign, notarize and publish installers for macOS (dmg), Windows (NSIS) and Linux (AppImage, deb). electron-updater installs new versions automatically.
Great DX: instant hot reload, Biome, Vitest, i18next with typed keys, and AGENTS.md plus skills so Claude Code and other AI agents follow the conventions.
Great documentation: 16 guides, from the first run to code signing, notarizing and selling your app.
It is not a framework or a dependency. You copy the template once with degit and every line of code is yours: no package to update, nothing to eject.
Electron AppStack is 100% free, with no paid tier. You can use it to build and sell commercial apps. It was extracted from RabbitGUI, a commercial Electron app, after months of setting up the same infrastructure every desktop app needs.
