The research paper was a combination of literature review about Data Mining and its use in presidential elections. Data Visualization capabilities were also discussed as a way to dig deeper into voters' data. The paper first and foremost recalled concepts surrounding Data Mining (definition, utility, etc.). Next, the paper explained how political parties and lobbies collect data about voters. Voter profiling is also discussed. The research paper described a particular class of voters: “Swing Voters” by identify variables (or parameters) that characterize them. A powerful Data Mining Algorithm discussed in the paper id Discriminant analysis, which can be used to identify and classify Swing Voters. The Obama campaign used these strategies and many others to win the 2012 presidential Election.
