Ream is a free PDF toolkit: 45 tools, no sign-up, no watermark, no daily limits.
Merge, split, compress, convert (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, JPG), edit, sign, redact, OCR, repair, watermark and more — everything a PDF day throws at you, in one place.
The privacy model is architectural, not a promise. 27 of the 45 tools run entirely in the browser (PDF.js + pdf-lib) — files are processed on your device and never uploaded. The heavy jobs (compression, OCR, Office conversions) run in an isolated, network-less server sandbox and are deleted the moment your download is ready.
Some details I'm proud of:
A visual page board: drag-and-drop reorder, rotate, delete — with live thumbnails of every page
True redaction that rasterizes pages, so the text underneath is actually gone (not just hidden behind a black box)
Next-step chaining: the result of one tool flows into the next without re-uploading
Lighthouse 99–100 across the site, WCAG-clean, self-hosted on my own box
Built solo because every "free" PDF site seemed to come with upload limits, watermarks and paywalls. Ream has none.
