I built bluumie because "how are you?" texts felt like the wrong tool for the thing I actually wanted: just knowing how my person is doing, without either of us having to stop and type.

What it does
bluumie is a status-sharing app for the one person you care about most — your partner, your best friend, whoever. You each pick a status (mood, activity, location, or your own words + an emoji), and it shows up instantly on the other's Home Screen and Lock Screen widget. No chat, no "seen at 2:41pm," no pressure to reply. Just a glance.
A few things I'm proud of:
🔒 Actually private. Location-based status ("Smart Status") is processed entirely on your device — your exact location never touches our servers.
📱 Widgets that just work. Home Screen, Lock Screen, even a macOS menu bar app — your person's status is always one glance away, no app-opening required.
💚 One person, on purpose. No feeds, no followers, no algorithm. You pick your one Main Person, and that's the whole point.
⚡️ Set a status in under 2 seconds. Tap a status, done. It's built to be faster than sending a text, not slower.
🌍 Available in English and German at launch, with more languages on the way.
Why this, why now
Between the two of us, my bestie and I probably send 15 "just checking in" texts a day that aren't really about anything — they're just us trying to stay close. bluumie is my attempt to replace that low-grade background noise with something quieter and kinder: you always know, without either of you having to ask.
Would love for you to try it and tell me what you think — especially if you're building something for exactly two people rather than a whole network. That's a much harder design problem than it sounds like, and I'd love to compare notes. 🙏
