Hey, I'm Dominik, and I made mokiwa because I was tired of rebuilding my desk every morning: reopening the same apps, dragging windows back into place, and hunting for the right tabs and folders.
What it does
Press ⌥1 to save what's open as a workspace.
Press ⌥2 to open the sidebar, pick a workspace and hit Return. Your apps launch, windows go back where they were, and tabs and folders reopen.
It restores browser tabs in Safari, Chrome, Arc and Brave, terminal and Finder folders, and editor projects.
What I care about
It never looks at your screen. It saves app names, window frames, URLs and folder paths as text. It never takes screenshots and never asks for Screen Recording.
Private by default. Workspaces are encrypted on your Mac, and password managers are excluded automatically.
Sync is optional. It's encrypted, but the server holds the keys, so it isn't end-to-end encrypted. I'd rather say that up front.
Honest limits. It can't remember Spaces, and Arc support is a bit rough.
Stats are anonymous. The app sends only an anonymous install count, and you can turn it off in Settings.
It needs macOS 14 or later. I'd love to hear which apps and setups you'd want it to handle next.
