I Was Tired of Typing My Expenses. So I Built an AI That Does It For Me.

Tracking your money should not feel like a second job. Here is how AiXpense is changing that for people everywhere.

The Problem Nobody Talks About

Everyone knows they should track their expenses. Personal finance apps have been around for decades. Spreadsheets exist. Notes apps exist. And yet, most people still do not track their spending consistently.

Why?

Not because they are lazy. Because the act of tracking itself is friction-heavy.

Think about the last time you bought something. You paid. You moved on. By the time you got home, opened an app, found the right category, typed in the amount, added a note , you had already lost the moment. And if you were consistent enough to actually open the app, you still had to deal with the receipt , a crumpled piece of paper, a long printed bill from a restaurant, sometimes a handwritten slip from a local vendor that even you could barely read.

This was my daily reality.

I am a developer by trade. I know how to build things. And I was still failing at tracking my own expenses , not because I lacked tools, but because every tool I tried put the effort on me.

So I built AiXpense.

What AiXpense Actually Is

AiXpense is an AI-powered expense tracker built around one core idea: the less you have to type, the more likely you are to actually use it.

It is not just another finance app with a clean UI. The intelligence is baked into how you interact with it.

You can talk to it. You can photograph your bills. It understands context, not just commands.

Here is what that looks like in practice.

Voice Input , Because Typing Is Overrated

The most-used feature in AiXpense is voice input.

Instead of opening a form and filling in fields, you just speak. "Spent 450 on groceries today." That is it. AiXpense parses your intent, extracts the amount, infers the category, and logs the expense , no tapping, no typing.

What makes this actually useful in the real world is the language support. AiXpense supports 22 languages, including regional Indian languages and Hinglish , the natural code-switching mix of Hindi and English that hundreds of millions of people actually speak. Most apps are English-first and treat everything else as an afterthought. AiXpense is built the other way around.

The voice pipeline uses browser-native silence detection , it knows when you have stopped speaking and auto-submits. No buttons to tap. No "done" confirmation. You speak, it listens, it logs.

Bill Scan , Point, Shoot, Done

The second feature that changes the game is Bill Scan.

Long receipts, printed invoices, grocery bills, restaurant tabs , instead of manually entering line items, you take a photo and let AiXpense handle it.

The model behind Bill Scan is built to handle real-world document quality. That means crumpled receipts. Mixed-language bills. Handwritten amounts from local vendors. It extracts the final total and logs it directly as an expense entry.

For anyone who has tried to decode a handwritten bill from a neighborhood shop, this feature alone is worth it.

AI Spending Coach , Weekly Clarity, Not Monthly Regret

Most people do not realize they are overspending until the end of the month. By then it is too late.

AiXpense has a built-in AI Spending Coach that runs on a weekly and monthly cadence. It reviews your transaction history, identifies patterns, and gives you a plain-language summary of where your money is actually going , not just a pie chart you glance at and close.

It is proactive rather than reactive. The goal is to surface insights before they become regrets.

Built for the World, Not Just One Market

AiXpense started as a product built with Indian users in mind , the language support, the handwritten bill recognition, the local payment context. But expenses are universal.

Whether you are tracking daily coffee in USD, weekend groceries in GBP, or travel spending across multiple currencies on a trip , AiXpense handles it. The app supports 43 global currencies with localized formatting, and payments are handled via Razorpay for INR users and Dodo Payments for international users.

The core value proposition holds regardless of where you are: spending less time logging, and more time understanding your money.

How It Is Priced

AiXpense has a generous free tier , 7 expense entries and 7 AI messages per day. Enough to build the habit before you commit.

For power users, Pro is available at:

  • Monthly: ₹499 / month

  • Yearly: ₹3,999 / year (save ~33%)

The Android app is currently in closed beta, with the full mobile experience coming soon.

Why I Built This as a Solo Founder

I want to be honest about this: I am a developer who built a product he personally needed. I was not chasing a market opportunity on a spreadsheet. I was just tired of the friction.

The interesting thing about building in public is that you discover quickly who else has the same frustration. Turns out, a lot of people hate filling out expense forms. A lot of people have piles of bills they never got around to logging. A lot of people want financial clarity but not at the cost of a 15-minute daily ritual.

AiXpense is my answer to that. It is live, it is being actively developed, and every feature shipped has come from asking one question: how do we make this take less effort for the user?

Try It

If any of this sounds familiar , if you have a drawer full of unlogged receipts, or a finance app you opened twice and abandoned , give AiXpense a shot.

The free tier is genuinely free. No card required to start.
