Anonymous chat rooms with peer-to-peer voice calls, where the server introduces two browsers and gets out of the way. One Socket.IO server handles chat and signalling, relays the WebRTC handshake, and never touches the audio. Early network candidates wait in a queue, so a fast network never races the handshake.
It was the take-home for the job I have now at IABTM: voice was beyond the brief, and it went live in two days, twelve hours before the deadline.
