Parental controls and screen time limits for Roku. Set daily time limits on YouTube and other apps, enforce a nightly bedtime that turns the TV off, and manage every Roku TV and Roku player in your home from your Windows PC.
Roku's built-in parental controls focus on PINs and content ratings. They don't let you say "one hour of YouTube a day" or "the TV goes off at 9 on school nights." ScreenWarden does, and it runs quietly in the background so you don't have to keep watching the clock.
No account. No cloud. No ads or tracking. Everything stays on your PC.
DAILY SCREEN TIME LIMITS
• Give any app or input (YouTube, Netflix, HDMI, antenna TV and more) a daily limit in minutes.
• When time is up, ScreenWarden sends the Roku to the home screen, switches to a different app, or pauses what's playing. You choose.
• Need to give extra time today? Add minutes in a click and the limit picks up from there.
• Set the hours of the day your rules apply, and how often devices are checked.
• New and changed rules take effect within seconds.
BEDTIME THAT ACTUALLY ENFORCES ITSELF
• Set a nightly screens-off window for each device on the days you choose, like 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM on school nights and later on weekends.
• At bedtime, Roku TVs turn off. If someone turns one back on, it turns off again.
• Roku sticks and boxes are sent to the home screen and muted.
• Bedtime always wins: no rule or schedule can override it.
• Skip bedtime for one night without deleting the schedule.
ONLY THE APPS YOU APPROVE
• Create an "allowed apps" list for any device. Anything not on the list is closed automatically.
WAKE-UP ROUTINES AND SCHEDULED LAUNCHES
• Turn a Roku TV into a morning alarm: it powers on, opens the app, antenna channel or YouTube video you pick, and sets the volume.
• Open apps automatically at set times on one device or all of them, or launch something on every Roku right now.
• Jump straight to a specific YouTube video, live stream or antenna TV channel.
SEE AND CONTROL EVERY ROKU FROM YOUR PC
• See which Rokus are online, what's playing on each one, and what rules apply.
• Control volume, mute, play/pause and home from your PC, or shut down all your devices with one confirmed click.
• ScreenWarden finds your Rokus automatically. Give each one a nickname like "Kids' Room." Rules follow each device even if your router changes its address.
PASSWORD-PROTECTED
• A password and 6-digit backup code keep ScreenWarden from being opened, turned off or closed by anyone but you.
• Repeated wrong guesses trigger a lockout, and a security log records failed attempts.
• With a password set, ScreenWarden starts in the system tray with protection already on.
RUNS QUIETLY IN THE BACKGROUND
• Lives in the system tray and keeps working when the window is closed. Can start automatically when you sign in to Windows.
• Windows notifications tell you when a limit is reached, a rule is enforced or bedtime starts.
• A plain-language activity log shows what happened and when.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• No account, no ads, no analytics, no tracking.
• ScreenWarden talks only to the Roku devices on your home network. Your rules, schedules and logs are stored on your PC only.
• If you contact support, ScreenWarden can save a diagnostics file for you to attach. Nothing is ever sent automatically.
GOOD TO KNOW
• ScreenWarden runs on your Windows PC, not on the Roku. Rules and schedules work while the PC is on, ScreenWarden is running, and the PC is on the same network as your Rokus.
• Roku sticks and boxes can't be powered off remotely, so at bedtime they're sent home and muted instead.
• ScreenWarden is a screen time tool for families. It does not filter content, isn't tamper-proof against someone with access to your PC, router or devices, and isn't a substitute for supervision.
• Wake-up routines depend on your TV, network and PC being available, so keep a backup alarm.
• For best results, give each Roku a fixed address (DHCP reservation) in your router.
• Updates keep your settings. Uninstalling usually removes them.
REQUIREMENTS
• Windows 10 (version 1809 or later) or Windows 11, 64-bit.
• One or more Roku TVs or Roku players on the same network as your PC.
• "Control by mobile apps" set to Enabled on each Roku (Settings > System > Advanced system settings > Control by mobile apps).
