SpanTime is a time tracker for freelancers and small studios who bill by the hour. It runs on Mac and Windows, works offline, and you pay for it once.
Set it up once, then just click
Add your clients, services and jobs once. After that, one click starts the timer. SpanTime already knows the client, the rate and whether the time is billable. A keyboard shortcut opens a quick entry popup from anywhere, and the running timer sits in your menu bar or system tray.
Built around the invoice
Most time trackers stop at a nice chart. SpanTime keeps going until the number is ready for the invoice.
- Rates per client, per service, or one default rate
- Rounding rules that match how you bill
- A budget per job, with a warning before you overrun
- Totals per client, project and month, already worked out
- Export to PDF, CSV or JSON
Your data stays on your computer
There is no account and no sign-in. Nothing gets uploaded and nothing gets tracked. Your entries live in a plain file you can open, copy and back up yourself. Folder Sync writes a backup into any folder you pick, like iCloud Drive or Dropbox. The store versions make no network requests at all.
Buy once, keep it
One-time purchase on the Mac App Store and the Microsoft Store. No tiers, no locked features, no monthly bill. Light and dark mode, and 25 languages built in.
Who made it
SpanTime is built by Andreas Stöffel of Stoeffel-Media, a small creative studio in Sydney. After 22 years of billing by the hour, he wanted a tracker without a subscription. So he built one.
