Most foreign-language YouTube videos already have captions, but reading subtitles through a 40-minute talk is tiring and you miss what's on screen. EarDub is a Chrome extension that turns those captions into a spoken voice-over in your own language, played in sync with the video.
Open a YouTube video with captions (auto-generated ones work too).
Click the EarDub button in the player and pick a language and voice.
Keep watching while the dub plays in sync.
Auto-captions arrive as short fragments that often split a sentence in half, so EarDub first merges them into full sentences and translates each one with its context. The translation is voiced with neural text-to-speech and aligned to the original timestamps; when a line runs long, the speech is sped up slightly (up to 1.45x) rather than cut off.
17 dubbing languages and 60+ voices
Separate volume for the original audio and the dub
Bilingual subtitles you can show or hide
Free with an account: 30 minutes of dubbing a day. Basic ($9.99/month) and Pro ($19.99/month) add more hours. EarDub runs on youtube.com in desktop Chrome, and videos need captions to be dubbed.
