Quiet-hour travel guides for seven destinations, hand-coded without frameworks and built with AI assistance.

What it is

Seven short guides (Santorini, Venice, Kyoto, Lauterbrunnen, Amalfi, Faroe Islands, Sedona) focused on the hour before the crowds. Vanilla HTML, CSS and JavaScript, hosted on Netlify. A companion site, travel.velvetjourneys.online, adds an interactive map of 46 places and a travel search.

What I measured (PageSpeed Insights lab test, 31 Oct 2026)

- Desktop: 99 (LCP 1.0 s)

- Mobile: 88 (LCP 4.0 s), still working on the hero images

What's inside

- Offline-ready PWA: service worker with network-first pages and a custom offline screen

- Schema.org JSON-LD for pages and destinations

- Email lead magnets through MailerLite (early test: 2 of 13 visitors subscribed, a tiny sample)

- Analytics with Consent Mode v2

Honest status: this is a portfolio project and real traffic is still close to zero.
