Translate Like Me is a free, open source macOS menu bar app. Select text in any app, press a hotkey, and the selection is replaced in place with its translation.

It detects the direction automatically between the two languages of a pair, so there is nothing to switch. Set up to three language pairs, each on its own global shortcut.

Each pair can carry a description of your writing style, so translations of your own text sound like you. Leave it empty for a plain translation of someone else's text.

Bring your own engine: Claude or ChatGPT through your existing subscription (the official CLI) or your own API key, or Grok through its CLI. No server, analytics or telemetry; text goes only to the engine you picked.

Native SwiftUI and AppKit, signed and notarized, updates through Sparkle. macOS 15 or later on Apple silicon. Install with: brew install --cask wiltodelta/tap/translate-like-me
