Technical intelligence ain't enough for leadership.... 😌

I agree with the points put out by Irfan in his session at adplist.org's BeMore festival on the importance of Emotional Intelligence.... 💡

If I were to oversimplify the importance of emotional intelligence in leadership, I'd put it as follows:

You are not leading skills or technology....
You are leading people....
And people have emotions....
So, you can't be a good leader without emotional intelligence....

Here's an example of why a leader with emotional intelligence can shine brighter than one without:

Assume a scenario where a teammate needs improvement. A leader with emotional intelligence will be able to point out where they can and should improve while making them motivated.... While a leader who lacks EI runs a huge risk of making the teammate feel demeaned by just pointing out the shortcomings....
