BOB is a transparent desktop AI overlay built for people who don’t want to constantly switch tabs just to use AI.
Instead of opening a browser, pasting screenshots, or typing prompts into another window, Bob stays on top of your screen and works directly inside your workflow. It can analyze screenshots, answer coding questions, generate interview Q&A, stream live AI responses, and even handle voice conversations in real time.
The overlay is click-through by default, meaning it doesn’t interrupt whatever you’re doing underneath it. You can hide/show it instantly with global shortcuts, move it around your screen, lock interactions when needed, and switch AI models on the fly.
Core features:
→ Screenshot analysis with real-time streaming responses
→ Live voice AI conversations using Gemini Live
→ Transparent always-on-top overlay
→ Smart click-through system
→ Global keyboard shortcuts
→ AI-generated interview prep notes
→ Markdown + syntax highlighted responses
→ Configurable coding preferences (language/framework/style)
→ Notes panel for quick reference during work/interviews
→ Persistent sessions and model switching
A lot of the engineering effort went into making the app feel invisible and fast:
low-latency streaming, overlay rendering, desktop event handling, OCR/screenshot workflows, voice streaming, and interaction logic.
Originally started as an experiment to see how far a desktop AI copilot could go. Ended up becoming one of the most technically challenging and interesting systems I’ve built so far.
Still in beta.
