Become a Product Manager

It has been a great journey and learning experience to start as the Director of Graphics to the Vice President of a student body while climbing up the ladder of the hierarchy. During the three-year journey, I learned with great experience people management/team leading skills, making ties/deals with both International and local level corporations and organizations for sponsorship and PR purposes, marketing, event management, team inductions, delegation participation, policy-making, organizing social events and much more.

I happen to have been involved in professional and personal attachment with people from various countries including Germany, Jordan, Romania and Netherlands and got to have an insight at how differently and diversely do things go about around the globe concerning all the diverse perspectives.

The achieved milestones during the 3 years include:

Introduced the graphic designing application, Adobe Photoshop to the students and instructed them on the basics of the tools so they can grasp the idea of the application and practice further.

Product Soch is a community of Product Managers with chapters in Germany, Canada, Dubai, and Pakistan. As a part of the Pakistan chapter, I have been helping amplify the voice of the Product Soch as a Volunteer while having the opportunity to connect with, learn from, and host sessions with product leaders across the Pakistani landscape. — Organised and hosted 8 speaker-based Product Soch Cafe sessions and multiple pocket meet-ups within 2024 since my joining. The sessions covered various topics related to product management, product growth, and other major aspects of product development. — Contributing towards other campaigns and verticals of Product Soch that help the local community of professionals and students better understand the product landscape and how to grow in it.

Started out in a role that was a hybrid of Product Management and Design, eventually shifted fully to Product Management.

— Drove a 262% increase in adoption of the social media publishing feature by transforming it from a basic modal into a multi-step wizard with a much-improved user experience. 

— Lifted user retention by 5% for mobile users by identifying and executing low-effort UX improvements to the mobile Design Editor post-redesign.

xiQ is a single, end-to-end, AI-based, SaaS platform for B2B Strategic Selling and Account-Based Marketing with clients like Dell, Genpact, etc. The design team comprised 4 UI designers and 2 Product Designers. The impact:

— Worked as a UX-focused resource on a major re-vamp project, to help re-vamp the entire platform inside out.

— Present design solutions in the form of wireframes, prototypes and huge flow charts representing the user flows and the information architectures.

— Coordinating with the Product Managers and the Client Success team to understand user requirements for new products.

— Conducting UX audits of the existing products while leveraging the UX heuristics and laws of usability.

Mubtadas is a place where founders and CXOs of products being built out of Pakistan exchange thoughts about product challenges, industry trends, talent, investor relations, government policies, legal struggles, etc.

Co-founded LapTerra (an online platform offering up-to-date & detailed information about laptops), while leading a team of 2 developers. Despite the platform not going live, valuable experience was gained in product development and team leadership. 

— Conducted extensive user and market research to inform product decisions, resulting in a more targeted and effective product strategy. 

— Created and executed a comprehensive product roadmap, optimizing development efforts for maximum impact in preparation for launch.

— Deflected 14 % of cancel-intent seasonal users by launching a Pause Subscription option, turning churn risks into paused accounts and extending their lifetime value. 

— Cut subscriber churn by 4–5% by launching an in-platform messaging based on savings based on a subscription plan that visualizes each user’s cumulative time-and-cost savings; the feature remains an ongoing retention lever.

Senior Product Manager - Growth

Co-founded a blog with a friend, where we shared our passion for gaming, entertainment, anime, and all things tech. It was truly a labor of love.

The blog was entirely organic in its growth and operated as a passion project for a year. Although I don’t recall the exact reach or total views, it achieved significant organic engagement. During this time, I honed skills in SEO, WordPress content management, social media marketing, and copywriting - gaining hands-on experience in setting up and promoting a blog from scratch. We even secured Google AdSense approval to run ads.

Despite its on-going growth, we had to close it due to some financial constraints, but it remains a cherished project.

tension is a design agency based in Toronto, Canada. I was the first hire at tension and had a 5-month contract with the company. The impact:

— As a UX Designer, I contributed to the mobile version of web apps of different clients.

— My work ranged from user flows and user journeys to contributing to high-fidelity mockups

— Drove a 14% boost in retention across marketers, consumers, business owners, and designers by overhauling the mobile Design Editor, also raising poster save rates 15%, design downloads 13%, and cutting new-user bounce 5%. 

— Reduced daily design debt by ~30% by establishing the foundation for a scalable design system — improving UI consistency and streamlining collaboration between design and engineering teams.

— Reduced design–engineering handoff issues by ~40% by formalizing a structured UX process with detailed checklists, Figma documentation standards, and integrated Asana workflows.

— Promoted inclusive design practices by introducing accessibility reviews into design workflows and aligning UI standards with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
