Lead AI Researcher

We are seeking a visionary and experienced Lead AI Researcher to spearhead our research initiatives and drive the next wave of innovation at Cogniq. This is a critical leadership role where you will define and execute our AI research strategy, directly influencing the future of our product portfolio. You will be responsible for exploring state-of-the-art techniques in Generative AI, NLP, and machine learning, and translating those discoveries into tangible, high-impact applications.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on researcher with a passion for solving real-world problems and a proven track record of leading research from concept to prototype. You will be the technical authority for our research efforts, mentoring team members and collaborating closely with our product and engineering teams to ensure our technology remains on the cutting edge.

Key Responsibilities

• Research Strategy & Vision: Develop and execute the long-term AI research vision and strategy for Cogniq, aligning it with our business goals and product roadmap.

• Pioneering Research: Lead and conduct advanced research in areas such as Large Language Models (LLMs), AI agents, multi-modal AI, natural language processing (NLP), and machine learning.

• Prototyping & Experimentation: Design, implement, and evaluate novel algorithms and models. Build rapid prototypes and proofs-of-concept to validate new ideas and technologies.

• Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Serve as the primary technical expert for AI research within the company. Mentor junior researchers and engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.

• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with product managers and software engineers to translate research findings into practical features and new products.

• Staying at the Forefront: Continuously monitor the latest advancements in the AI/ML landscape, attending conferences, and reading academic papers to identify new opportunities for Cogniq.

• Publication & Communication: Publish research findings in top-tier conferences and journals. Clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field.

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in an AI/ML research role, preferably in an industry setting.

• Deep expertise in one or more of the following areas: Natural Language Processing (NLP), Large Language Models (LLMs), Generative AI, or AI Agents.

• Strong programming proficiency in Python and hands-on experience with major ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX).

• A proven track record of leading research projects and a portfolio of publications in top AI conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL, EMNLP).

• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently on complex research challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with leveraging large-scale APIs like OpenAI, Gemini, or Anthropic.

• Experience in deploying machine learning models into production environments.

• Demonstrated experience in leading or mentoring a team of researchers or engineers.

• Familiarity with building AI-powered applications, web services, or Chrome extensions.
