Bachelor of Science (BS)

After spending 4 years on the Gentle Giant team in Boston, I was given the opportunity to take the lead on a national expansion plan. Our first strategic move would be to New York City, where I setup a branch location in 2005.

My responsibility was to work in the field in sales and operations to help develop a strategy and a system for national expansion. By 2008 we had 5 new locations in New York NY, Charlotte NC, Alexandria VA, Seattle WA, and Denver CO.

The company has continued to grow since my departure with strategy and systems I helped design and implement.

New York Branch Manager

Technical lead engineer for the development of a new HTML5 video playback engine for Disney+

Technical Lead Engineer

I worked as a sole proprietor software engineer for a number of years where I worked on a broad range of software from e-commerce applications and developer operations, to research & development projects initiated by larger organizations.

I also made an interesting attempt to turn my business into a member managed coportation which you can read about in my blog post: http://www.kixx.name/blogs/entrepreneur/failure_member_managed_corporation

President

Working with some of the best creative and engineering talent in the business, I focus on engineering innovative, and highly interactive user facing products for our clients around the world.

I've created embeddable software for iOS and Android, as well as architect and construct game console and web applications. My responsibilities include system design, research and development, construction, and developer operations.

In addition to my role as an engineer I also help maintain partnerships with Microsoft, Amazon, and several other smaller startups as they develop and improve their application platforms.

Software Engineer and Hero-for-Hire

My partner and I founded a small startup in Boston that would attempt to create an aggregation service which would collect local events and business listings per community and provide a mobile on-the-go experience for community members and travelers. Self funded, we ran out of time and money before we were able to complete the project to a state where it provided meaningful value, but it was a great experience nonetheless.

Co-Founder and CEO

I was the lead mobile engineer for the Geodeals product by Geodelic. I was tasked with building a cross platform mobile experience which would expose flash deals posted by local merchants to consumers located close to those merchants by geo location. Given the short runway we had available to us we chose to build in HTML5 rather than native mobile applications.

We were able to roll the product out in just 3 months to a pilot audience in Dublin, Ireland. The project was in partnership with Vodafone, and was eventually turned over to them as a product for their UK customer base.

Lead Mobile Engineer

Managing a software engineering team building streaming media playback technology at Disney Entertainment & ESPN Media Technology (Disney+ , Hulu, ESPN, NHL )

Sr. Engineering Manager

I worked with MadGlory through 2013 to design and build a management system for smart parking meters. The MadGlory team was contracted by a well funded start up that needed to ramp up their software development capabilities quickly.

The meters are equipped with radar and cameras to detect the movement of vehicles and read their license plates. As the operating system was developed for the meters, we worked to design and create a server side software system that would coordinate activity amongst meters, update software, issue parking tickets, allow users to pay fines, perform accounting tasks, and more.

We worked closely with two other engineering firms to design and build this very intricate system. It was my first introduction to the incredible work ethic and intuitive nature of the MadGlory team, and we were able to leverage those qualities to innovate by leaps and bounds on an old technology.

Contract Developer

Odd Networks provides a software platform to manage and deliver video content to the web, mobiles, and TV connected devices. My job includes working on the platform, customer projects, and forward engineering.

Senior Software Engineer

I worked on a number of crews and a larger number of projects in the "industry" in Los Angelas... Like most people there.

I spent time working for VH1, NBC Studios, Warner Brothers Films, and the film American Rhapsody (Scarlett Johansson, Seven Arts Pictures).

Editor, Gaffer, and Electrician (Lighting)

I keep this here on my resume, because it's a big part of my life.

There's nothing like being in the mountains. Planning and training to climb a big mountain or go on a big trek is how I keep my head fresh.

Mountaineer

Pinfinity's mission is to spread health care knowledge by making multi-touch medical textbooks, references, and review material free through digital platforms.

My job at Pinfinity was to create and glue together the technology we needed to achieve that mission. We worked closely with Apple to deliver interactive textbooks and reference materials to surgeons, as well as their patients on iOS devices.

I'm particularly proud of the work we did to innovate on the iOS platform and deliver a new and valuable use case for interactive media in health care.
