Blockend is a source-first backend infrastructure toolkit that generates production-ready backend building blocks directly into your project.Instead of installing another runtime dependency and hiding infrastructure inside node_modules, Blockend copies readable, editable source code into your repository. You own the generated code completely — you can inspect it, modify it, extend it, and commit it alongside the rest of your application.Blockend currently provides reusable backend blocks for common infrastructure problems such as:<ul><li>Request validation with Zod</li><li>Centralized error handling</li><li>Structured logging with Pino</li><li>Token-bucket rate limiting</li><li>Standard API response formatting</li><li>Health checks</li><li>Environment configuration</li><li>Graceful shutdown</li></ul>Getting started is intentionally simple:npx blockend-cli init npx blockend-cli add request-validatorThe CLI initializes a blocks/ directory and generates the selected infrastructure directly into the application.Blockend is designed around three principles:Source-first: Generated infrastructure is real application code, not a black-box dependency.Composable: Developers can add only the blocks they need and combine framework adapters and implementation variants.Developer-owned: Once generated, the code belongs to the application. There is no runtime dependency on Blockend for the core infrastructure.The project is built as a pnpm monorepo managed with Turborepo.
