rn-upgrade-doctor: React Native Upgrade Helper CLIrn-upgrade-doctor is a command-line tool that makes React Native version upgrades faster, safer, and more predictable. Whether you’re moving between minor versions or taking a big jump to the latest React Native release, it helps you plan and carry out the upgrade without the usual trial and error. Why React Native upgrades are painfulEvery React Native upgrade means dealing with breaking changes, deprecated APIs, native project changes in the iOS (Xcode, Podfile, CocoaPods) and Android (Gradle, AndroidManifest) folders, and third-party libraries that may not support the new version yet. Most teams put upgrades off because the cost is hard to estimate. They end up running outdated React Native versions with security, performance, and App Store or Google Play compliance risks. rn-upgrade-doctor is built to take the guesswork out of that process. What it helps you do

Plan a React Native version upgrade before you touch your codebase

Understand what changes between your current version and your target version

Spot dependency and compatibility issues early, including npm and yarn packages that may block the upgrade

Handle native iOS and Android project changes with more confidence

Cut the time and risk of migrating to the latest React Native version, including the New Architecture (Fabric, TurboModules) and Hermes

Keep your React Native app current, secure, and release-ready

Who it’s for

React Native developers and mobile engineers maintaining production apps

Engineering teams and agencies managing several React Native projects

Tech leads who need to estimate, schedule, and de-risk upgrade work

Startups and enterprises that want a repeatable React Native upgrade process

Freelancers and consultants who deliver React Native maintenance and migration work

Why developers use it

A CLI-first workflow that fits your terminal, CI/CD pipelines, and existing React Native tooling

Works with bare React Native projects and complements the official React Native Upgrade Helper

Saves hours of manual diffing, reading changelogs, and fixing build errors after an upgrade

Supports a steadier upgrade cadence, so you stop falling many versions behind

Designed for real-world apps, not toy projects

Built by a React Native engineerrn-upgrade-doctor was created by a senior software engineer with 11+ years of experience in React Native, Swift/iOS, and mobile app development, including large-scale mobile banking applications. It started as an open-source project and is now being developed further under Mobilixir Technologies, a mobile and web development consultancy. What’s nextThe CLI launched on 20 October 2026. A full web portal is planned for 9 November 2026, extending the tool with a richer, more visual upgrade experience for individuals and teams. Early users can shape the roadmap, so feedback and feature requests are very welcome.Related searchesReact Native upgrade, React Native upgrade helper, upgrade React Native version, React Native migration tool, React Native CLI tool, React Native dependency checker, React Native breaking changes, React Native version compatibility, React Native New Architecture migration, React Native Hermes upgrade, React Native iOS upgrade, React Native Android Gradle upgrade, CocoaPods React Native, React Native developer tools, React Native tooling, mobile app maintenance, React Native CI/CD, React Native open source, npm CLI tool, React Native technical debt.Get startedInstall the CLI, run it against your project, and see what your next React Native upgrade will take before you commit to it.
