<h3>Nmor — Nmap on Roids</h3>
A raw-socket port scanner written in Rust. It offers the same command-line muscle memory as Nmap, but with a faster underlying engine and several user experience upgrades. Key features include no-sudo-after-install, adaptive rate control, and native JSON output.
Download Options:
<ul>
<li>Option A: Prebuilt Binary (Linux x86_64): Download the latest release and extract. An installer script handles installation and privilege granting for no-sudo operation.</li>
<li>Option B: Build from Source: Clone the repository and use Cargo to build the release version. This option is suitable for non-x86_64 architectures or for users who prefer to build from source. Requires a Rust toolchain.</li>
</ul>
Platform Support:
<ul>
<li>Linux (native) and WSL2 are fully supported.</li>
<li>Other Linux architectures can be built from source.</li>
<li>WSL1, native Windows, and macOS have limitations or are not yet supported.</li>
</ul>
Usage:
Nmor is designed to be familiar to Nmap users. It supports various target specifications (IPs, hostnames, CIDR blocks, ranges) and port specifications. Scan techniques include SYN scan (default), TCP connect scan, ACK scan, and a lightweight banner/version grab (-sV). Timing can be adjusted with -T flags, and adaptive rate control is built-in. Output formats include human-readable, greppable, XML, and JSON.
Key Advantages over Nmap:
<ul>
<li>Simpler privilege management (no sudo required after installation).</li>
<li>Integrated adaptive rate control.</li>
<li>Native JSON output.</li>
<li>Modern, memory-safe Rust codebase.</li>
</ul>
Current Limitations:
<ul>
<li>No OS fingerprinting.</li>
<li>No NSE-style scripting engine.</li>
<li>No UDP scanning.</li>
<li>IPv4 only.</li>
<li>-sV is a basic banner grab, not full version detection.</li>
</ul>
