I've been an entrepreneur since I was 15. Not because someone told me to be, but because I had an idea, no money, and no choice but to figure it out.

It started in a friend's garage in Honolulu with a hacksaw, a file, and a beat-up piece of scrap steel. I had no formal training, no mentor, and no blueprint. I taught myself to make knives from scratch, sold that first knife, and used every dollar to buy better equipment. Then I made a better knife, sold that one, and reinvested again. That loop, repeated over and over, is how Sean Leong Bladeworks went from scrap metal on a garage floor to a real business with a real shop.

Six months in, I got introduced to Ken Onion, one of the most recognized knife designers alive, and his co-designer Jeff Park. They took me under their wing and I spent hundreds of hours learning the craft and the industry from two of the best in the world. I won first place in the Young Makers Knife Making Competition, got featured on the Young Makers Podcast hoste
