This being my first internship, I initially struggled to adjust to the fast-paced environment and the real-world challenges of development. However, with the guidance of my senior engineers and the support of my peers, I quickly adapted and found my rhythm. I was able to significantly contribute to the development of a web application by optimizing the front-end code using React.js, resulting in a 10% improvement in load time. I also collaborated closely with the team to implement a feature that greatly enhanced the user interface, leading to a 15% improvement in user interactions based on feedback. Along the way, I gained valuable skills like ensuring code reusability and creating official SRS documents when pushing software, which made a huge difference in the quality of the work. Taking ownership of testing and bug fixing, I resolved over 20 issues and improved the software’s overall stability by 5%. Despite the initial challenges, I’m proud to have made a meaningful impact on both

My task was to create an educational game/app to teach communities about proper waste disposal, aiming to reduce methane emissions from landfills and improve air quality. To ensure the solution was effective, I was tasked to work closely with apartment residents to understand challenges like the lack of recycling bins and incorporated insights from environmental justice research. Additionally, I analyzed LASAN truck visit patterns to identify inefficiencies, reducing unnecessary trips and delivering significant cost savings.

As an AI Solutions Strategist, my drive to develop an AI solution to reduce bias in health records came from a personal experience with my grandmother in the emergency room. Due to a language barrier, the doctors had trouble understanding her, which led to longer wait times and poor care. This experience made me realize how medical bias and communication issues can negatively affect patient care, especially for underserved communities. Motivated by this, I developed an AI solution that uses data analysis to improve care for patients in similar situations. I also evaluated the market viability of this solution within the $40B+ health tech industry, performing competitive analysis and financial modeling. At #NSBE49, I pitched the idea to industry leaders, securing interest from over 10 key partners who shared a commitment to improving healthcare equity. This project became more than just a career milestone—it was a way to provide the best medical care to minorities such as my grandmother

AI Solutions Strategist

When I first joined NSBE, our chapter was completely inactive—no events, no engagement, and no opportunities for members. Determined to change that, I secured $15,000 in funding within five months, allowing over 20 members to attend the Fall Regional Conference and National Convention, where they gained new industry connections, internships, and returning job offers. I also organized alumni panels, workshops, and company presentations, rebuilding the chapter and creating a bridge between students and professionals. Now, I’m focused on expanding the CSUN-NSBE network, strengthening connections between alumni and current members to ensure that knowledge, mentorship, and opportunities continue to grow. As part of this effort, I’m also working to establish the San Fernando Valley NSBE Jr. Chapter at CSUN, aiming to provide 3rd-12th graders with access to academic workshops, company tours, and professional panels.
