Project: Leveraging Machine Learning to Minimize Climate Change Impacts The World Resources Institute (WRI) is seeking to understand how regional and global Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) (e.g. forest and landscape restoration) can be leveraged to address and minimize climate change impacts. This understanding includes assessing the current NbS platform landscape, the barriers they have, gaps in their adaptation of NbS, and the opportunities in their adaption. Explore Machine Learning (ML) with Crowdsource is a Google program to get started with Machine Learning and understand the impact of Crowdsource contributions. The program aims to encourage you to pursue more interesting studies in Machine Learning through fun exercises, targeting people who think that Machine Learning is only for “tech” people. I was trained and mentored by domain experts at Google to facilitate this workshop, which I hold every month. Crowdsource is a crowdsourcing platform developed by Google intended to improve a host of Google services through the user-facing curation of different datasets. Crowdsource attracted me from its mission to promote diversity in AI, and to retain local culture in the digital age. I feel that these are important values as our world gets increasingly digitised, where machines will play in stronger role in deciding what we see, hear and think. As of Oct 2020, I have made over 10k contributions on the platform, and organised events to promote this cause.
