Senior Back End Developer

I launched DynaBlogger (www.dynablogger.com) to offer an alternative blogging platform which is less complicated than Wordpress but not as bare-bones as other options in the market. 

I'm currently the sole developer on this project and am working on it full time. Technologies: Ruby on Rails, Postgres, Kubernetes, Rancher, and more.

Developing large scale, data driven solutions for the travel industry, such as advanced search and booking engines as well as various public facing websites.

My main responsibility was to lead the transition from legacy systems based on proprietary technologies to new, more scalable and more flexible systems based on open source technologies, as well as evangelising such technologies to other developers in my team; among these technologies were Ruby and the Ruby on Rails framework, MySQL, the Linux operating system.

Through the development of various booking engines I had the possibility to work on the integration with various third party systems and APIs; this has helped me to further improve my skills and knowledge in various areas, including large datasets and security.

Web Technologist

At cloud specialist OnApp I lead a small, agile team of developers responsible for the licensing area of the business; I drive the design and development of the Licensing System as well as the OnApp Dashboard and the backend system for the processing of data; together, these form the centrepiece of the integration between our various products and services. 

Through the Licensing System, we collect and process large volumes of data from all the clouds deployed as well as from our federated CDN; thanks to the Dashboard, it is possible to manage licenses, users, and other data.

Besides driving the coding, other aspects of my role include project management and the administration of our IT infrastructure. I have an important role in architectural decisions concerning also other technical areas of the business, and ensure all members of my team follow and apply test driven development and other best practices for a more predictable quality.

Lead Web Developer

My role at Clash Media was that of the lead architect, primarily responsible for driving the design and development of the company's new lead generation platform featuring collection of data (via syndication as well as through own properties), advanced data validation and flexible delivery system.

Furthermore, I also played the role of technical evangelist, introducing test driven development and open source technologies that were new to other developers in my team, eventually leading the transition from a legacy platform fully dependent on Microsoft technologies to a new, more flexible and more scalable platform based on the aforementioned open source technologies.

I have also been responsible for the design, set up and on-going maintenance of the new IT infrastructure.

Some of the key technologies and tools in use were Ruby and the Ruby on Rails framework, MySQL, Linux.
