This event gave LGBTQ+ identifying students  chance to listen to a panel of and speak one-on-one with LGBTQIA+ students who have already been abroad and were open to speaking about their experiences. Students discovered how their identity would affect abroad trip.

LGBTQ+ Study Abroad Event

-Created effective and organized system that stored and redistributed student’s luggage and computers during first-year orientation at UNC - Chapel Hill

Orientation Baggage and Check-in System

-Created and distributed the Pecha Kucha application to globally engage the UNC Chapel Hill student, staff, and faculty populations

-Meticulously analyzed all submitted applications in order to approve the selected performers

-Distributed 50 flyers in 4 buildings on UNC Chapel Hill’s campus to raise awareness and encourage participation of event

-Resolved the logistical and technical issues of 4 different committees

-Maintained constant communication between selected performers and other planning committees

-Designed the Pecha Kucha brochure to accommodate accurate information about participants, planners, and sponsors of the event

Pecha Kucha Conference

-Organized variety show for 100 scholars and mentors to bond and showcase talents

-Managed all social media and promotion of event and communicated with both faculty and fellow scholars through email, Facebook, and face-to-face interaction

-Obtained and operated technical equipment to document the event

-Collaborated with team members and utilized technical equipment and software to film and edit entertainment videos used between acts

Scholars Night Live (UNC Talent Show)

-Orchestrated and spearheaded the first UNC Women in the Workforce Conference to ensure that the students, faculty, and staff of UNC gained insight into the challenges of being a woman in today’s workplace

-Communicated and consulted with 5 influential women in professional fields (including Engineering, Psychology, Computer Science, and Chemistry) to attend as speakers/panelists

-Designed event schedule, including panel arrangement, panel question & answer session, and small group discussions with panelists

-Operated event promotion by disbursing flyers, operating social media, and maintaining contact with UNC student body and faculty members

-Attended and facilitated event committee meetings in order to assign individual duties, evenly disburse responsibilities, and establish the goals and expectations of the conference
